Grandma's Ginger Snaps

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup light molasses
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 2 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper (optional)
- Turbinado Sugar for rolling
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Cream shortening and sugar.
- Beat in egg, molasses and other dry ingredients.
- Roll dough into small balls and roll them in Turbinado Sugar.
- Place on baking sheet, squishing slightly.
- Bake 8-10 minutes.
