Vanilla Butter Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 Stick (1/2 cup) Unsalted Butter
  • 1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar
  • 3/4 cup cream or half and half
  • 1/2 Tbsp Honey (Optional)
  • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 Tbsp Pure Vanilla Extract

Directions

  1. In a medium sized sauce pan (better to have bigger than smaller), heat butter, sugar, cream, and honey over medium heat.
  2. Whisk to combine and butter melts and sugar disolves.
  3. Bring to a boil and allow to boil for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove pot from heat.
  5. Mix in vanilla until homogenous.
  6. Add baking soda a little at a time and whisk vigourously after each addition (the syrup will bubble up rapidly as the baking soda is added).
  7. Once everything is mixed and settled, serve immediately.
